rcamugliaI don't own one, but the Browning A-Bolt Mountain Ti would be just the ticket for any serious backpack hunt like a sheep hunt.
I saw them at the SHOT show and was blown away at the weight....or lack of it! Around 5.5 pounds, camo stock, stainless barrel, titanium reciever. Absolutely perfect in the caliber you choose!

BrandoI just seen this topic, and when I forst got my rifle I never realized what I was getting...
I purchased this rifle almost 18 years ago. Its a Remington 700 BDL in 308 caliber.
Doesnt dound very special but its rocking a 20" barrel and tops the scales around 5.8lbs unloaded. holds 4+1 with the built in magazine. It has a pretty sharp recoil, but when you have a animal in those scope cross hairs you dont feel it. Sighting this baby in at the range makes for a crappy day and sore shoulder thenext if you have to shoot it alot...
I shoot my buddies 375 Ultra mag on a regular basis and my 308 makes his feel like a 243...

Les StaleyWill be hunting Bighorn rams next month with a Ruger Hawkeye allweather 308 with a Leupold 2-7 compact scope total weight of outfit unloaded is 7lbs 7ozs. scope has two dots below the crosshair, first dot is right on at 300 yds. Shooting a handload 160 gr Hornady FTX boattail ahead of 43 gr of IMR 4064..waiting for the breeze to quit, shot a inch and three eights group at 300 yds. Good enough!! Les
