Hello all.

I am looking for a small backpack, for day trips, stalking in bush, thick timber areas, so it needs to be silent and at the same time able to carry a jacket, some food, water and so.

One made in wool will be silent..But so far I have not been able to find one.

Any tips is welcome.

The a look at the badlands stuff. The monster fanny pack is great and they also do a good traditional backpack.

The good thing about the MFP is that the rifle can be slung over your shoulder easily without getting caught up in the pack. It also stops your back from getting damp when walking.

My son just got me one of these Tenzing 2220 for my birthday. Not sure if it's silent but, there are enough loops, and compression straps to tighten it up well.

Pretty cool gift for a young kid making minimum wage.

Another vote for badlands if looking for a smaller daypack. I have a Diablo and it's pretty nice. Just big enough for a daypack. Also the material is quiet. Anything bigger I'd go with kuiu.

Sitka Flash 20. Used it for a 7 day elk hunt this year. Although it seems a bit big, I liked the ability to take what ever I needed. I packed it for 4-6 miles everyday averaging 30lbs. very comfortable.

Sorry, but I laughed out loud when I saw the subject of the thread. I carried and lived out of backpacks for the better part of 2+ decades and none of them were small or silent. I am eager to see what people recommend.

I have 6 different packs including a Kifaru Longhunter Standard (a great hauler pack) and an Eberlestock J34(an excellent elk hunting pack}. My favorite light-weight day pack (for deer hunting) is a 18.3 Liter, cheap ($90) Redhead Primal rifle/bow pack. It quietly carries everything I need for a day hunt. A nice feature is that it is rigid enough to use as a shooting rest.

I was looking for a small pack to use for local deer hunting when I saw your post. I had not heard of Bison Gear before. The Outfitter pack turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.

So I bought one for myself for Christmas. I have to say I am really happy with it. It is really well made and has a lot of really thoughtful features. You can tell that is was designed and built by a hunter.

I have a leather and wool haversack. It will hold a week's worth of food, and all my gear to stay out that long as long as the temperature does not fall below 50-degrees. Weighs about three pounds empty.

The design dates back to the 1750 era at least. Rogers Rangers developed them just in time for the French & Indian Wars in 1754.

It makes NO noise in the woods.

I have been useing a Badlands super day since '02 and love it. It's big enough to hold what I need for 3 days/nights in the mountains and small enough for a trip to my deer stand at the back of my farm.
It meets your criteria for quiet, light.
