Talley Lightweight lever QD rings and bases, they are made of hard alloy aluminum. I have a couple of pair on my Weatherby Ultra- lightweights and they are the cats ass. Light, strong and they look good too. You will have to call because they do not advertise these as they only make them for custom gun builders, but you can get them if you call them direct.

You say "original Weavers"

Do they hold their zero? I've got standard Weaver bases and rings at the moment and the only time I removed the scope, the point of aim miles off when I put it back on.

yes, they will return to zero in my experience. When I install them i make sure the cross-screws both bear on the front of the slot, and then I try to keep the amount of torque on teh screws even when you take them off and re-install.

It depends on your budget. I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Talley, so that is a good option. Personally I like leupold QRW rings with steel 2 piece bases. If you are counting grams then aluminum bases have been proven to be reliable too, but I like steel for longevity.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

The lightest outfit I have come up with is Davidson bases and Kelbly rings. You can go with the two screw rings if you are counting grams.
