MOA TACTICALKoflach Alaska Hunters broken, need a replacement
I noticed this weekend that my old Koflach Alaska hunters got destroyed by the movers when we came to Australia.
Now that I am 18 months from needing a pair of cold weather mountain boots, what are you guys using.
I think I bought mine from Cabelas in 2003?
I haven't seen them in years, and I couldn't find anything that I thought was similar.
Is the Scarpa Inferno soft enough to wear sheep hunting? Or is it more of an ice climbing boot?

thecanadianI think that you mean Inverno's? I have a pair of Scarpa inferno's
and they are climbing shoes. If you mean the inverno, I would say that they are to stiff for anything but mountaineering. I have used a pair of Koflach Arctis in the Alps. I would not use them as a casual hiking boot. I currently have a pair of Cabelas Alaskan Hunters that I use for fall hiking and they work very good.

MOA TACTICALThinking January subsistance sheep hunts. I know they wear them on big mountains like K2 and Everest.
Ought to be warm.

I have worn the Alaskan hunters to -20 here in Wisconsin. They dont stand up to the cold unless you are moving around. I guess it depends on what terrain you are going to be traveling in. If you are primarily going to be on snow and ice on a mountain, go with a mountaineering boot and get some crampons. If you are going to be on anything else go with a good hunting boot. Also, keep in mind that mountaineering boots are designed around the person being active. They are not necessarily any warmer then your average pac boot.
