KathiAconcagua
Since we don't have a "mountain" category, I thought this would be the best place to ask:
1) Has anyone here done Aconcagua?
2) What month during the climbing season did you choose and why?
3) Which route did you take to the summit?
4) Which climbing company did you use?

ZekeShikarMy son and I looked into it casually but nothing came from it, so far.
Son trained and finished a 100 mile mountain run a week ago (Wasatch 100 for those in that circle). He completed the race in just over 30 hours.
It's not out of the question that we'd go so we will be in touch when the time comes to see how things went with y'all.

KathiZeke,
Congratulations to your son, quite an accomplishment.
Husband is looking at going to Aconcagua in either their Jan/Feb/March 2018 or Nov/Dec 2018.
He is currently training for the Great Wall of China Marathon in May

Since he will be turning 60 in January he figures to try and get the "tough trips" done before he gets too old.

txsouthpawKathi, I climbed Aconcagua several years ago. I went in January because I understood the weather was a little more predictable then. I did the "normal" route thru Plaza de Mulas with Mountain Madness. I also climbed Elbrus & Kili with MM. If it were me, I'd take a strong look at Alpine Ascents. I've known a couple people who used them and were very pleased (along with a person who summitted Everest on the 3rd try with AA). Although Garrett Madison is a very accomplished climber and I've heard runs a good operation, it's a smaller "boutique" company, and important to me, AA uses a 4th high camp on Aconcagua that makes the summit day a little less strenuous and 1000 feet closer to the summit, which is a big deal to me.
I hope this helps...
