Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I will anyway. [Big Grin]

Anybody here shoot handgun silhouette? Been thinking about getting involved but I'm not sure about gun type/caliber choice and was hoping for some input from anybody currrently doing that. My interest leans toward revolvers but would also like to try single shot (Contender, XP, etc.).

Thanks for any direction you can offer.

Is Jackson Center still in business? I shoot my very first handgun "sillywet" match there back in the early 80s.

Wish they were. Closest ones here are Canton, OH & Pittsbrgh, PA.

I enjoy it, except for the 4 hour drive each way to the events.

I wouldn't get too caught up in classes and rules. It gets real complicated, and discussion gets heated real fast with some people. I'd like to see them eliminate the classes altogether and just shoot. Because that's what its supposed to be all about, really, a competition using your hunting sidearm, not your $12,000 wangerdoodle with electric dog polisher that wouldn't survive a day in the brush.

And most every club has classes/configurations that aren't in the rules, just for fun. We shoot big bore rifle, for instance. open sighted 45-70 leverguns and the like. Some clubs stop everything and do an off-the-wall event, like a team match or whatever.

That is a shame. That was one nice place when I was there. Beautiful range. Any idea what happened.

Where is the range in Pittsburgh?

The club I used to belong to did a similar thing. We had water jugs shoots with our silhouette matches. Gallon milks jugs filled with water at 50 yards off hand. The most knock downs won and got half the pot.
