Have any of you any experience with this in a contender? If so where did you get your barrell and what kind of velocity do you get? How has it worked on game? Thanks for all replies.

My favorite cartridge is the old 30/40 Krag. Grew up shooting an old model 1896 in Pa. One day while visiting my favorite gun shop, there it was!! An SSK rechamber(of a 30 Herrett) w/SSK brake and TSOB mounts in Super 14". This started my Contender bug!!. I took off the 2x Luepold and put on a Burris 2x7 w/P.A.. Factory Rem. loads w/180gr core-locs shot extremly well out of it! I reloaded some 150gr Hornady S.P.'s that are also accurate and are deadly on deer!! As far as fps I rely on posts from others as too it's speed! I'm more on track for MOA not fps. I did find a 125gr Nosler BT load that worked well but never trying it on deer. opting for a heavier bullet instead.
