Why is it that with all the mention of the .500 Linebaugh

john113wyoWhy is it that with all the mention of the .500 Linebaugh
nobody here seems to have one built by John Linebaugh himself?
I see a lot of Jack Huntington and Gary Reeder builds mentioned, but seldom read about a Linebaugh conversion done by John L.
Just wondering...

MS HitmanJust depends on what suits one's fancy. I think it's worth every penny I spent on it. Feel the same about my Mag-Na-Port Stalker & Predator.

WhitworthJohn won't build a .500 or .475 on a DA revolver frame -- Jack Huntington is one of the few who does (Bowen does as well), as well as one of the few who builds his own cylinder. I really like DA revolvers.
Reeder builds more Linebaugh caliber guns then all of the rest of them combined.......

gumboot458Where he does all the work himself , it takes him a while to build a gun .. Some people don,t want to wait ...
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

gumboot458However , from the Revolver I,ve handled that was built by him it is worth both the money and the wait ...

MS HitmanI believe John's conversions are worth both the wait and money. I prefer these on the Bisley conversion or at least a single action platform.

Reputation, and in most cases well deserved, can often result in a considerable backlog of orders. Back in the early 80's when the PPC cartridge was really beginning to take off, I waited over 5 months for a Shilen.

TEXASFIVEGUNJohn is a friend of mine and when he builds a gun he does all of the work himself except for grips. Bowin and reeder have gunsmiths working for them so a gun from them is from their shop not necessary built by them.
Having say-ed that. David Clements built my 500 Linebaugh. I got it in 3 months instead of a year plus.

Lloyd SmaleI have a 475 and a 500 built by John and a 500 built by dustin and have had two other 500s built by john that ive parted with.

BoxheadFor me it was simple economics. A Bowen 550 L Nimrod with brass, loaded BB ammo, hundreds of quality cast and jacketed bullets from the "big names", Keyle's punch bullets, Ringler holster, belt and slide, dies and all shipped for less than the price of the conversion alone. Tough to pass up.
