Well I guess it works OK some of the time...

However, I have killed several deer WITH MY 44 MAGNUM, that had 41 mag bullets sticking halfway in their skin...

Just saying... stir rotflmo shocker

Sorry, could not resist. wave

Come on guys. We all know that anything smaller than .700" is just a small bore handgun.

Bob, I too wish we did live closer.

For those that do not know, over 30 years ago RJM was a 41 Mag shooter and a 38 Super shooter.
For concealed/off duty carry and for early IPSC use.

This was years before the days of the Comp guns red dot sights, etc. in 38 Super.

He was well ahead of his time.

I always remained "old school 45 ACP".

We worked together for several years.
I would trust him to enter the pits of Hell with me.

Bob as you well know I have usee a lot of H-110 in my 44 Mags, but it is somewaht sensitive in less than max loads.

2400, on the other hand seem to work great, with loads starting at @80% up to full power.
This is with 240gr to 250gr bullets "lead" or jacketed.

H-110 and 296 are a better choice for bullets starting at 280gr and going up...

Also there are some newer powders than Unique for medium loads, but for ME I see no reason to change.

I can do, and have done, ANYTHING with any handgun loads with Bullseye, Unique, 2400 and H-110.

From 9mm/38 Special up to 44 Mag/475L.

When using H110 I only run top-end loads. Unique will do for almost everything else. Also like SR4756 for loads between Unique and H110 and Winchester 231/HP38 for lighter targets loads...

But I could do everything handgun wise with just Unique and H110...

For jacketed bullets there is the Speer Deep Curl .Similar to the Gold Dot but heavier construction.
Swift A-Frame [NP type construction] is also available and loaded by Federal.

Shot a nice 15" antelope at a water hole way back in 1985 with my 6" M-57 220 gr Keith SWC over 2400.
Forget the load and back then couldn't afford a crono so no idea as to velocity...probably in the 1150 area though. Not a super hot load.

I think the range was like 60 yds...through he heart/lungs, never found the slug. Stalked that guy through the sage on my belly for two hours to get within range at the water hole. Very memorable hunt.

Still have a few .41 mags one of my favorite handgun rounds. Between the .41 mag on the low side and my +P .45 Colts on the top end....I seldom shoot my .44's anymore. Still enjoy and like the .44 Spcl and Mag but the 41 and 45 do it all for me.
