Safarikid, nice collection! For my taste, I like the .500 S&W PC the best. A couple of questions about it...

What kind of red dot is that?

I am also wondering why you chose to take the front and rear sight off of the gun and not mount the red dot sight on the integral scope bases in the barrel?

Just curious. Again, very nice collection! thumb

Thanks! That is the Aimpoint Micro(Fantastic quality, submersible way deeper than I want to go.something like 4 years if you leave the switch on,but expensive, between 5-600 bucks..did I mention it is 3.7 ounces)...I had it on the rib,but decided I didnt like the way it looked, thats all...Makes more sense the other way,but...That PC shoots great, the most power needed and recoil is quite controllable and not as bulky as the looong barrel Smiths, but I get over 1400fps with 500XTPs and it has taken a Bison and a Water Buff, bot one shot demise! Good enough reason for me! Big Grin

I've got the 8 3/8" model and it is "muzzle heavy". I really like the way your gun is setup (the ability to sight in the iron sights and a scope or red dot sight and go back and forth between sight systems). With my gun, that isn't an option.

You can't argue with results like that! Cool

Very nice!
In the S&W 500 I have the PC 10 1/2", 8 3/8", PC 7 1/2", PC 6 1/2" and 2 3/4" ES model. I'm only lacking the 4" model to complete my collection. I've also got a PC 10 1/2" S&W 460.

Who makes the RB grips on your 6 1/2" PC model? Have you shot it much and how are they holding up?

Gotta love them big bores!

Where've you been, DEC?? You'd better get yourself that 4-inch .500 Smith!

I love the 4" model for it's longer sight radius (compared to the snubbie) and this is ONE handgun that I must say needs the muzzle brake, imo. As bad as it stings with heavy 500+ grain loads, I can imagine what the unbraked snubbie feels like with full-boogie loads, especially shooting in a one handed defensive style. OUCH......what just hit my forehead????....damn, that smarts!!! bewildered Mad CRYBABY

In my opinion it does not need the compensator, I had an end cap made for my 4 inch 500 Mag. I have shot a lot of heavy loads with it, without one problem.

Whitworth it's been a pretty busy year for me. My mother passed away at the end of May after a short bout with cancer, my oldest daughter got engaged, my middle daughter told me I'm going to be a grandpa again and my youngest daughter got married in July. And to top that all off....I'm going to be re-married in Oct! I am broke. It didn't help that I bought a Bushmaster BA50 50BMG either.I guess my pending wedding prompted that Wink But what's really nice is my fiancé wants to buy me the 4" model to complete my collection Big Grin I think she's a keeper!

Dang!! Sorry I asked!! Big Grin I am sorry to hear about your mom. Wow, you have been busy! I do believe after all of this, you deserve the 4-inch .500! Oh, and if your fiance wants to get you the missing link in your collection, then she most certainly is a keeper!! Good job, DEC! thumb
