I shoot hardcast lead in my 500. There are two compensators included with the gun. One is for jacketed bullets and one for lead.

Bill/OregonYou guys are some tough birds. I've never really gotten used to .44 Magnum recoil with 300 grain and heavier bullets at full steam. Can't imagine the JRH with 440s at 1350.
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

It's really not that bad. The 425s at 1,450 were a lot worse in my opinion -- particularly with the micarta grips. With that grip frame everything is more manageable with the rubber grips.

It sure does! Now, if it had a Bisley grip frame, you could use micartas, but with the plow handle, it moves around too much for my taste.

Shooting the 700 grainers out of my 500 smith make my 44 sbh feel like a girls gun.

Most of the factory loads are not that bad but wll still take a good bit of practice to shoot well. The 460 does not have the recoil of the 500.

I agree. I spent some time with a .460 and none of the loads really kicked aside from the 395 grain CorBon loads which weren't objectionable, but they let you know they were there.
