How many use a backpack/rucksack?
I use a rucksack to carry most the things I think I will need or want on my hunting trips. A little food, water, sometimes even coffee and a book, plus latex gloves for skinning chores.

The other purpose for the backpack setup though is a shooting platform for my Contenders. By rolling up a jacket during big-game season, or using an upholstery pillow for varmint hunting, I have taken both deer and small game out past 300 yards. Just took number 48 for my .309 JDJ the other day using my rucksack as a "bench".

I can also skin and quarter my deer on the ground and carry out all the meat at one time if the deer doesn't go much over 150-175 pounds.

I use a backpack. I find it is the best way to carry all my stuff when I am hunting. I have tried the fanny packs , but find they slip down all the time.

I carry a small daypack when deer hunting as I am a "walk a bit, sit a bit" sort of still hunter and frequently spend the entire day in the woods by myself. I carry a small thermos, some lunch, pee bottle, spare socks, spare gloves, trail marking tape, field dressing gloves, knife, deer drag strap, fire, a tube tent and space blanket, binocular, small camera, etc. If I don't carry a small folding chair I pack a foam sitting pad. When hunting from a ground blind with the scoped Contender I frequently carry it in its gun rug in the daypack until I get to the scene (I often walk in before, and out after, legal shooting time so having it at hand is of no great value). Good hunting! McB
