I posted pitures on the other thread using Hunt101, but hunt101 is giving me trouble so I started using Photobucket. Here is the first group I fired with the 360 grain Cast Performance LBT's.
6 shots at 25 yards. The 5 shots without the flyer is 0.95" if I remember correctly. The 6 shot group is 1.815" center to center of the two extremes. I am pleased and I think I will be able to do better when I am not pouring with sweat and tired.

Freehand or with a rest? Good group

I had my left (support) arm resting on a bench and the barrel resting on a corner post. So not ideal benchrest but more support than freehand.

David, try resting your wrists w/o the bbl. or butt touching anything. Looks like a shooter though. What is your load?

that load was a 360 Grain Cast Performance LBT in brand new Star Line brass filled with 21.3 grains of H110, sparked by CCI 350 large pistol magnum primers. Cartridge overall length was 1.673".
I shot a 21.9 grain load today and it was more consistent. The 21.9 grain load clocked out around 1298-1303 fps measured at ~7 yards from the muzzle.

Here is a picture of the 360 degree bullet loaded as compared to a 335 grain Buffalo Bore cartridge.

I tried some cowboy bullets I made with a Lyman mold in my DW44mag they won't chamber (fit into the cylinder far enough) with the lead being almost as big as the cartridge. Keith style SWC will chamber fine. Do you have this problem with your Ruger 45LC?

No I do not have a problem with chambering these loads. The Lyman mould probably throws bullets that are close to .4305 as cast, I bet the DW chamber throats are .429, Ruger chamber throats are ussually .430 or above.

Seems like you always have one flyer. Makes me wonder if it's one cylinder doing it or if it's just random chance.

That is the same target in all 3 pictures. one was a picture of the full size target, one was with a quarter for comparison, and the third was just a zoom in of the holes. But all 3 pictures are of the same target showing the same 6 holes. I don't think we should judge the cylinder based on one group. It is more likely that the flyer was my fault.



I do plan on shooting some more groups maybe this weekend. I will post the results when I do.

I will have to check the chamber throats I use a .429 size die with a Star bullet luber/sizer. If the throats are the same size as the bullets no wonder they don't fit in the cylinder thanks.
