SS308KYODE, I have two Savage Strikers. One in a laminated stock .308 (now discontinued) and another one in a .223. Love them both. Triggers suck. Buy a Basix trigger and they shoot great.
My .308 shots under 3/4" 5 shot groups a hundred yards. and the .223 under 1/2". Actually shot a 3 shot group at .138" with the .223.
Great guns.

<SD Handgunner>KYODE, I had a Savage Striker in .243 Winchester. Yep, the key word is had, in a fit of stupidity I sold it. Been regretting that decision ever since.
The .243 is quite over bore for Handgun Length Barrels, and I had a heck of a time finding just the right powder to use that provided me with decent velocity, good accuracy, all with the least amount of muzzle blast & flash as possible. I did manage to find just that load, but it took some doing.
I was totally impressed with the accuracy of the .243 Striker. Mine really liked 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips (at about 3100 FPS), and 80gr. Speer Hot Core Spitzers (at about 2750 FPS). I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get more velocity out of the 80gr.'rs but they did shoot great. I also burnt up a lot of 90gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips, and never really did find a super load with that bullet either.
All in all, I liked the .243 Savage Striker so much, I am in the process of dealing on another one. The down sides to the Striker, like has been mentioned the TRIGGER SUCKS. However with the Rifle Basix Trigger available now that is not too big of a concern. The other thing is I didn't really care for the shape of the grip, and in fact reshaped mine a little. I made it better, but never was totally satisfied with it.
All in all, if you are into Bolt Action Speciality Handguns, the Savage Striker is a decent Handgun. YEP it needs a little tweaking, but then sometimes that is half the fun.
Good luck

SlingsterI bought a used one in .243 because I was curious about rifle cartridge handguns and it was a great price. Mine was also very accurate, sub-MOA easily, in the hands of a first-timer with one of this class of guns. I concur with previous commenters that the trigger could be better, but I found it workable after adjusting it down as far as it could go while still being reliable.
I eventually sold it because: the trigger reach was quite long and I have short fingers; I bought a Rem XP-100R in .260 Rem, which fit my hand better and is chambered in a more versatile cartridge; I preferred the rear grip to the mid-grip because I have short arms and the rear grip puts the scope further out (I had problems with eye relief on the Striker). FWIW.

packrattusnongratusSD Handgunner What powder was it, that performed with the least flash? I have a pistol that uses the same case- different bore diameter. I would like to see if I can develope a load if I'm not already using it.Thanks Pack

xphunterI'm the onery cuss you bought it from SD Handgunner. The bad thing, at least for SD is I traded it for another XP-100 (my favorite hands down specialty handgun). If SD doesn't have a copy of his load development I'm sure I can get the data you want.
xphunter
P.S. If you saw the load development data on this Striker it would make your head spin--It is that accurate! And I don't impress that easily.

<SD Handgunner>XPHunter, don't you mean you are the ornery cuss that bought it from ME ?

I tried about everything imaginable in that blasted gun. I could get either great velocity, good accuracy & horrendous muzzle flash & blast, or mild muzzle flash & blast, but no velocity or accuracy, or any combination of the above. Finally I entered unchartered water, and tried some IMR-4198. Accuracy was impressive, muzzle flash & blast were the least of any combination tried, and the velocity was right up there. IMR-4198 made the .243 Striker really fun to shoot.
THEN in a moment of weakness I sold it to XPHunter, a decision I am still regretting.
I wrote an article pertaining to my Trials & Tribulations with the .243 Striker. It is posted on another site. If you need the address, let me know , and I'll get it to you.

PS, XPHunter, hows is that Striker shooting for your buddy that bought it? Inquiring minds want to know.
