Ruger Hammers
Does any one know if there is an after market affordable Ruger hammer for the Single actions that is in between the standard hammer, and the Bisley? Standard hammer to high, Bisley to low. I tend to weak thumb pull the hammer, and my strong hand is in the way.

The grip frame is a bit different on the double actions, but this would be a nice option for them as well.

Thanks..

Your best bet would be to look through Brownells. I do not recall seeing a hammer as you have described though. Would not be surprised if you have to get a gunsmith to modify one for you.

I think you should learn to get used to it. There are no inexpensive type hammers available.

The Super Blackhawk hammer is between the regular 45 Blackhawk and the Bisley Hammer.
Brownells has them for around $100 (I think).

I have to agree with David and Lloyd, the Super Blackhawk hammer is easier to cock with the offhand (weak) thumb. It seems like the standard, high spur hammer is better for thumbcocking when one-handed firing, if that's your bag.

On another note, has anyone noticed this: I am astounded by the number of people, even who hunt and shoot some, who do not understand single-action revolvers. I get asked, "You have to actually cock it before each shot? That's turrible!" What really fries their gourd is when I explain how you load and unload at the loading gate, one round at a time. They are astonished. I thought that knowledge was a given. I thought it was only natural after watching many hours of Gary Cooper, Jack Palance, Chuck Connors, The Duke, etc. as a kid.
