TBEAR99Went to friend's calling hours today UPDATED about gun
my friend went to hospital and they elected not to operate on him and sent him home which he passed the next day at age 59. Well talking to his father of 86 yrs old and sound mind wants me to come over to get a mauser pistol he took off a german officer in france at the german border. He told me story of coming up to an old cavalary traing camp that the germans were using as headquarters. The building is surrounded by open feild for 500 yrds to woods were his unit was and the germans just keep coming to be slaughtered he said there were very high ranking german officers inside and when crossing field you couldn't step with out steping on a kraut soldier. he went on to say he never got that sick as he did that day anytime in his life.He mentioned town name but forgot and other friends came to visit him over loss of son so i left him to other friends and said we would talk about gun soon as he doesn't want any family members to have it which is his choice and he knows i will take care of it.the gun he said is a mauser not remember the model and he mentioned he soaked with oil and wrapped with oil soaked rags and then put in safe last time he seen it it was atleast 10 yrs ago.
I found his story interesting and i'm one of only a handfull he will talk to about war with so i feel privileged. And thought share it with you members before i forgot it

TBEAR99well went over and looked at gun a couple days ago.It is a Polish Radom made under German occupation but he had it chrome plated before returning to staes.Well no finish left and there is minor pitting on both sides and under the front of gun.
