Has anyone used a 45super for hunting?

I am thinking that 300gr SP bullet traveling 1000fps should be very effective on whitetailed deer (assuming 100yrds or less, assuming broad side shot).

One doe came close enough-185gr Golden Saber-11.3gr Power Pistol 45 Super load in 5in Springfield-1387av.fps. Usally only load 10.7grs. Just in under 50yds when she came by, hit her right in the ear-hole.

Is there a reason people are using light weight bullets?

A buddy of mine used a regular 45acp with 230 Starfires to take a smallish Muley. It was around 20yds and he took it right behind the sholder, it went about 10' and fell over. The bullet went clear through. I'm thinking that the 45 Super should work even better. Can you get it to feed 300gn bullets?

I can get the 300gr bullet to feed in the Glock but not the Colt 1911.
From my experimentation this week, I will not be able to get the 300gr up to speed.

I have not been able to get the chronograph numbers on the 260gr, but theoretically I will not be able to get it up to speed. Some of the numbers for the 45super are not possible (at least not in my guns).

So I am back to using 230gr JHPs.

The only to come close to the advertised velocities is to have the long slide with the longer barrel. I love my 1911's but hate to chase my expensive brass while hunting. That's why I use a revolver for hunting.

Have used a Colt 1911 in 45 ACP with 230 grain WW Black Talons to take impala for the pot. No troubles.

I still have original made-up brass by that dude in Texas who started this thing. Since losing brass in the field bothers the hell out of me, I don't shoot autoloaders in the field anymore.

I still think that you can use TZZ mil 45 brass for the 45 super. When I accidentally ran my hot loads, 230 @ 1300, the brass was fine and didn't bulge or anything.
