Which barrel length did you guys choose for hunting with the Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 casull . The 7 1/2' or the 9 1/2"

Both of my SRHs (.454 Casull and .475 Linebaugh) have 7.5-inch barrels. I personally feel that 9.5-inches makes them tough to pack. SRHs balance really well with the 7.5'inch barrel.

Like Whitworth, I went with the 7.5 inch version. The 9.5 inch barreled version was a little too cumbersome for my taste...just too much of a good thing

I sold mine with the 9.5" barrel as it was cumbersome and didn't balance very well.

I have the 7.5" and even that length leaves it feeling a tough front-heavy. I imagine the 9.5" would just make it awkward in the hand. It looks out-of-proportion, too, and I wouldn't want a handgun that I don't like to look at.

thanks guys i was able to handle them both and i went with the 7 1/2" i bought it yesterday. Now i have to decide which scope to go with any suggestions. I have been thinking on the burris 2x7 electro dot or posi lock, for i am also thinking on a fixed 4x from leupold. I can hit myself in the head as last year i sold a leupold 2.5x8.

As far as a scope goes I like the Leupold fixed 2-power. I think that too much magnification just amplifies your unsteadiness.

Yup, like most, the 7.5 does just fine for me.
