.300 Win. Mag. and 15" Encore
Was wondering if anyone out there has this combination of a .300 Win. Mag. and 15" barreled T/C Encore? What are your impressions of it? What kind of velocities can be achieved? I know muzzle blast will be substantial.

Thanks,
mnmark

I do not have a Encore.I have a Competitor 375 JRS MAG with a 16" BBL this is a 8mm Remington Mag neck up to 375. This gun shot just as good as my 308 Win. So I think a 300 Win would be a good one just don't forget your muzzle brake

I think a 300 wsm would be better, shorter chamber more barrel. For the velocity loss vs a 308 I do not know how much you will gain over a 308. you will gain a lot of flash and niose over a 308 however. I do know of a friend who bought a 7stw barrel that was 20 inches long and was no better that a 7-08 in the same barrel legnth. Try it and let us know.

I spoke with Ed Kirkpatrick of Ed's TCs about this exact question. Ed is hooked up pretty well with the boys at TC.....seems the custom shop guys cut a 300 mag barrel down to 15" just to see what it would do....they said it didn't gain any measurable velocity over the 30-06 barrel of the same lenght....but it sure was a flamethrower!!!
