i am looking for a shoulder holster for my redhawk .44 that will keep it nice and tight for when i am canoeing or walking the river bank fishing. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

A friend of mine has one of these and it works great.

Its a great holster, been very happy with it. My intial use was for fishing out west, wearing waders, the postion of the weapon makes it ideal for the uses you are looking for.

I have been using Pistol Packaging's Bandito Rig for my hunting revolvers but I would like to get a Guide's Choice for one of my smaller handguns. Will Diamond D custom fit a holster for small reflex sights like Pisol Packaging did for this 5" 629?

First, I'd decide if you want the cross draw type or the traditional type that goes under your arm. The latter has I think fewer straps involved.

Anyway, I've never owned an SRH so this is a recommendation per educated guess.

I do have the SBH which is at least similar dimensions, and I have N frame Smiths and Auto Mags. All are big frame long barreled guns. And all of them fit perfectly one particular shoulder holster, the Bianchi X-15 Large.

These are not real expensive and so many are out there, that I've picked up for about $25 each, a couple at gun shows. Bianchi are also good people. One of my used buys lacked a safety strap and they sent me two different sizes, FREE. One short, one long. Each has two snaps on them so I can use one strap for all guns by fastening with a different snap for each.

Can't get any better than that.

And btw, I prefer a gun under the left arm (and also under my jacket) and out of the way instead of on my chest or stomach. I also don't want my rifle banging against it. But I understand where some states don't allow that. Concealed carry or whatever. And if you've got grizz to face you might get to the other kind quicker, unless you already have your jacket open.

But, for me and for climbing in and out of deerstands, I much prefer the traditional under arm style.

You can check out Simply Rugged's Chesty Puller holster setup. It is quite handy for me when wearing a revolver in the woods.

I'd definitely check out Mike Barranti & Rob Leahy, both make exceptional rigs.
