<glock20rocks>.475 Linebaugh Penetration Question
OK, about to get a new .475. Want some "tree-busters"
What would be the best penetrator:
420gr LFN @ 1350fps or
440gr Extra Wide Nose @ 1325fps
These are Buffalo Bore loads.
I've shot these before in my old .475, but only at an indoor range
I would guess the 440gr'r should penetrate the deepest due to mass; but due to the extra wide meplat may cut penetration a bit (I've heard that the LFN's go about 10% deeper than the WFN's, and this is just a wide WFN).
The 440gr looks like it would give a tremendous hydrostatic shock to game, though.
Any input? It's been awhile since I've blasted away with a .475 (needed $, had to sell it)...

<glock20rocks>Oh, when I do get this thing I'll take some videos of me blasting dead trees and watermelons and whatever else I can find and post 'em...gotta find someone with a DV camcorder, though

Lloyd Smalehard to say without really testing them but my money would be on the lfn. Best penetrating loads in mine so fare are the ballistic cast lfn 420 and the lee 400 lfn closely followed by the rcbs 400 kieth. Even the wfns should give you all the penetrations youd ever need though.
