.475 Encore?
Anybody know what this is? Is it an Encore chambered in .475 Linebaugh or is there another .475 caliber wildcat that's been developed for use in an Encore. Reason I asked is I met a guy who claims to have one and he couldn't give me any details aside from the claim that it'll push a 400 grain bullet to 2,000 fps.........any ideas?

To get those velocities it is probably the 475 Linebaugh Maximum(Linebaugh Long, 1.6" case) and not the standard 475 Linebaugh, with the 1.4" case. Remember that the Encore does not have a barrel/cylinder gap so the velocities shown for revolvers will increase by 250-300 fps, even in a short barrel. If you look at the numbers the 475L Max. in the Encore will achieve what you posted. The standard 475L will probably not. It could also be the 475GNR by Gary Reeder which is based on the 45/70 blown straight out to .475 diameter and is in fact a wildcat round. It could be either of them and both are roughly the same even though the 475GNR may hold a bit more powder. You can only burn so much powder in a short barrel with efficiency.

It could also be the .475 JDJ, developed by JD Jones on the .45-70 case before Gary developed the GNR, and before John Linebaugh developed his version(s) off the shortened .348 Win. case.
I think it very, very unlikely, but someone could also have built an Encore barrel in .470 Capstick.

Linebaugh version's of the 475 is with a shortened 45/70 case the shortened 348 win case was the 500 Linebaugh
