SBH Hunter scope mounts
I have a SBH Hunter with the machined cuts in the barrel and the rings that Ruger supplies with these revolvers. What I am wondering is if there is any problem with using these? I am curious because I saw a one piece weaver style base for these and it got me to thinking(usually dangerous). Is there a problem with these? The only real need I can see for the aftermarket base is to make an adjustment on where the scope sits on top of the gun.

You should not have a problem with the ones supplied by Ruger.

You can also purchase 30mm Ruger rings for these, I have a Bisley Hunter with a 30mm red dot, it works very well.

So these 30mm rings are available from ruger or do I need to find them elsewhere?

I think you can get them from Ruger (check the site). I have the 30mm rings on one of my SRHs.......

Make sure to tighten them up good from the start and check them often if shooting a lot or using heavy loads. They can shoot loose so keep an eye on them. Otherwise, they are great and the repeatability of them are very good as well. The SBH Hunter makes a great hunting handgun platform.

Ruger rings are close together and some red dots, etc, will not fit between them. Then you need the Weigand base to spread the rings apart. It works like a charm.
I will never understand why Ruger doesn't spread the rings farther apart.
