I figure it is but is the Distributor Exclusive NMBH in 45 Colt the larger frame size that will handle 32,000 psi? The weight is listed at 65.6 oz and thought that wrong so I talked to the rep at Williams and he threw it on the scale and came up with 41 oz.

Yea, it looks like a regular Bisley Blackhawk. It seems that the 5.5 SS model was really popular. That's like the 10th (name your distributor) exclusive, it seems.

Just off the phone with Ruger. They now know that their web site weight is incorrect. I also asked if I sent them my new Bisley could they replace the .44" tall front sight with something taller. They said "no". What? According to the new Handloader article by Brian Pearce, that just hit my mailbox the other day, the blued 45LC with 45ACP cylinder version that was made for Lipsey's has a .600" tall front sight. She verified it could not be done. Guess it will be off to David Clements for one of his tall front sights; if I need it.

I bought one of the .44 Special Blackhawk's Lipsey was selling about 2 years ago. It shot so high with standard factory-equivalent loads that I could not zero the gun. Ruger replaced the sight with a taller one that now works fine, and they paid the shipping both ways. I contacted the service department and had no trouble at all.

Ok, it arrived and the weight is 42 oz as it should be.

Now, that I've had a chance to go over it, it will need some work.

What can I, with a few gunsmithing tools, do to it to make it shoot very good?

I've got the LBT bore lappig kit, so I can smooth out the bore and cylinder throats.

I've taken a prelimary measurement with a dial caliber of the chamber throats and their all .452" except one which is .4525".

The front sight is thankfully .600" tall but .13" wide. I prefer David Clements front, .1" wide, sight. I'm likely to sell the 4-5/8" model I took my moose with and pull the Clements front sight off and replace the Bisley models front sight. Sure I'll need a new roll pin. What size to order from Brownells?

I'll also likely pull the Bowen lock screw style Belt Mountain base pin from the 4-5/8" model and have a local 'smith install it on the 5-1/2".

My RCBS trigger pull guage runs upto 4.5 lbs/72 oz and the pull is heavier.

Have zero knowledge on how to tune a trigger. I watched the Ruger vid on how to disassemble/reassemble the NMBH. I can do that! Maybe a new spring kit or cut/shorten springs?

Forget new springs for a SA Ruger !! It needs carefull polishing work on hammer and sear -but that's for someone who has the knowledge and skill.

Just did a Poor Boy's Trigger Job

and reduced the trigger pull to 3.5 lbs and smoothed it out a bit.

Also, just switched out my .1" Clements front sight from my 4-5/8" model to the new 5.5" model. Much better!

I don`t think I would do The poor boys tune up.Buy The Wolf Spring kit.They are reasonable and they work.All my SA break at 2 to 2 1/2 lbs reliably.

I like the Po Boy trigger jobs.

Another thing you can do to smooth the sear some is to: unload, cock the hammer, put forward pressure on the hammer, then pull the trigger. Repeat 20-40x
This will help to smooth out any burs that may be on the sear engagement surfaces.
