45 bullets in 454?
I have the oportunity to buy some cheap 45 auto bullets fmj 225grains. Is it ok to shoot them in my 454 SRH? What is the diameter of bullets made for the 45 Auto, .451" or .452"? Can one expect any accuracy? I like to get a cheap practice load that have decent accuracy.. Smiler

That sounds like an interesting project. 45ACP is typically .451 and 45 colt/454 casull is typically .452 in copper jacketed bullets. Usually the bullets will expand the extra .001". However, my feeling is that the jacket may be too thin for 454 loads causing eratic pressures/velocity. You could probably load to 45 colt level with fairly good success.

Do you have any aversions to shooting hard cast?

No, hardcast is ok. Its just a matter of finding them... Problem is that a pack of cheap bullets made in the US is not cheap any more when they get to europe. I have to find some localy produced bullets to get a reasonable price.

I have found that my .454SRH dosent like lite bullets, It only likes 250 gr and larger. but each gun is different. Good Luck.
