fredrodraging bull without ported barrel
Does anyone know if you can get a raging bull in .44 mag without the ported barrel? Rod

Whitworthfredrod, I don't think they make 'em without porting.

fredrodthats a shame,I really like the piece except for the porting which IMO is not necessary for the .44 mag. Rod

WhitworthYeah, I don't like porting either. Just creates a bunch more noise -- yes, it tames recoil some, but like you pointed out, it's not really necessary in a .44 mag.

fredrodI was just at the taurus sight and they have a 4" titanium ultra light in .44 mag. they only have the blued look pic right now but it does come in s/s, and no porting, shame it only comes with a 4" pipe. Oh well, guess we can't have everything we want on a limited income.

Lar45A gun shop buddy of mine told me about a Marlin 450 ported Guide gun that the guy didn't want the ports on. He found one guy to fix it. Tapped the port holes and ran in set screws with loktite. I'd like to see a pic of it. He said it didn't look too bad and was supposed to shoot well.

WhitworthLar -- I can't imagine why set screws wouldn't work. I really dislike porting and compensators -- just my personal quirk....

carnold724Would you need to loctite them? What about leaving them removable and you could have porting for practice and plug them up for hunting to reduce the noise?

Hmm, wouldn't the threads wash/erode out over time? I recall savage rifles had a rotating sleeve to close the ports in the field ~
