Rusty GunnTaurus 7-shot 357 revolvers...
I'm highly considering purchasing a new Taurus model 66 357 Mag stainless revolver, which has a seven shot cylinder.
Does anyone have any experience with these? What is you take on them? Any speed loaders for this 7 shot model?
An alternative would be a Ruger GP100 357, of which I know is a fine revolver (my brother has one), but I'd like to try a seven shot. Thanks.
Just curious, concerning a 4 inch barrel vs a 6 inch... what can be the estimated difference is bullet speeds? ~~~Suluuq
Is the seven shot still made on the 357 frame? I know one of them was made on the 44 size frame. I would rather have the smaller frame if I was useing the smaller cartrige. I have the 4" GP-100, it is terribly accurate and would recommend it to anyone looking for a 357. I haven't shot the Taurus 357, but it is nice to have something different. Didn't they make an 8 shot also? I'd guess 50-150 fps difference in the barrel lengths.

waxmanI have the 8 shot model. It is a well made and finished gun.The heavy 8 inch barrel and the porting makes for very comfortable shooting. It's a large stainless gun that looks impressive.

<stans>I can't comment on the Taurus 357's, but I have a Ruger GP-100, 6-inch, stainless, full underlug barrel. If I had to get rid of all of my revolvers, this would be the very last one to go. It has been 100% reliable, it is a robust design and it is more accurate than I.

Rusty GunnLar45... I believe the model 66 7-shot is a medium frame, whereas the 8-shot is based on the large frame.
The one I'm interested is a stainless 6 inch 7-shot M66.
I used to own a Blackhawk 357, and wouldn't mind the GP100. I also reloaded for the BH back then, and would do so again. I have some ammo left, too. I've even bought two boxes of Federal Cast Core ammo (the only 357 ammo worth buying in this town) to encourage me to purchase a 357 soon. Thanks for the responces. ~~~Suluuq
