Super Redhawk
Just picked up a SRH 9.5" with Lueapold scope for a steal!!! Very pleased. I was just getting qoutes on a new one because I "needed" a .44 since I have 3 .357's. Couldn't be happier.

That's a score! Congratulations! When are you going to take her for a test drive? You should be very happy with it!

18.5 grains of Old Slow version of WC820 (think H110), C429310 Lee cast seated to upper cannelure (won't chamber otherwise in my SRH) is the most accurate load I have ever shot out of a revolver.

It will shoot several loads very well. 300 grain XTPs for instance.

Think you will like it.

BY the BY about WC 820 unless you have it a long time it is AA#9 speed for loading purposes!!

The WC820 I have acts just like 2400, and I mine just like it. Make sure you test any of that stuff being used before loading a lot of cartridges.

I've been using H110 in my .357s and am very pleased. Since I have that on tap i'll start there and see what happens. A friend of mine used to silouette shoot with .44mag and is a big fan of H110. I'd like to shoot cast bullets, which I will for fun, but for hunting i'm in the "CONDOR" zone dangit! I'll try some barnes and some general bullets and see how they doo. I'm excited about the gun though.

Nice looking SRH. I have one in .480 Ruger that has a 7.5" barrel. For the money the Ruger revolver is unmatched in my opinion.

A fine handgun and one you will find quite capable of most any game. Check out Garrett's load for that caliber.

My "everyday" fun shooting load is:
250 gr. Leadheads Keith bullet
6.5 gr. Titegroup

Whitworth, I can't pick it up for 10 days. "God Bless California!" NOT! I will also get to sight in a customers 500 smith for him. He's been having trouble getting it right. I'm Pretty excited about that and a little nervous! That will be a new experience for me. .44 mag is the largest i've shot in a handgun, but he's using light loads in the 500 so it should be fun.

I have had 3 different . 500 S&Ws.

8 3/8, 2 3/4, and now the 4".

The 275's and 300's are easier on me than most of my .44 loads

The 440, 500 and 700 , really let you know you've stepped up from the four four.

As a rule the 350's and 370's aren't too badd (depends on who loaded them Eeker)

I think you'll enjoy your SRH, I still shoot mine quite a bit despite of having the " big gun " around.

That might be the problem he is having. The light loads might be so far from what the twist needs it is spraying boolits. Chasing holes in the paper is a waste of time. The gun must group first.
You will be happy with your SRH and I can give you loads when you get it. It should do 1/2" at 50 yards and never over 1" if shot right.

The srh is one of the under rated wheelguns. Most folks can't get past the aesthetics. But when you start shooting one, you find out that it is both an extremely accurate sixgun, and an easy to shoot accurately sixgun.

I prefer H-110 for heavier bullets, so 300's in the case of the 44. It would be worth getting a supply of good 240 or 250 gr cast bullets and working up a load w/ unique. At 1000 fps it'll kill most game, very shootable, very accurate!

2x leupold?

Nice score, I have been lucky enough to get a couple of good deals this year, but not that good. Congratulations. Let us know how it shoots. It might influence my thoughts about getting another Super Black Hawk. DW

BFRShooter, I think your right on the 500 smith. He has tried varios loads and cant get it where he wants it. I think he is not adjusting sight correctly from what I've heard, but I will be glad to shoot his ammo and at his expense and get paid to find out!!!! dancing

I would love to hear some of the loads you gentleman have used when I get to reloading. I've got some cases on the way. No bullets yet.

Finally shot her tonight after my ten day wait. Some 240gr soft points and it was quite pleasant. seems accurate, but I wasn't shooting at any real distance so not sure yet. I'll get it out to fifty later in the week and see how it does.
