Don't know if this is a good place to ask this, but I need some strong quality grips. The fake ivory grips on my Ruger Bisley cracked at the screw. It basically split all the way across and fell out in two pieces.

Despite Gen. Patton's view, I like the pearlized style on the stainless frame (which is what I have). Are there any of this type that will hold up?
--Maybe I've been shooting too many 360 grain cast performance bullets out of it, but they are my favorite load! I never thought of steel bedding pistol grips or relieving stress around the grips screws either but we're living in the heavy hitter revolution.

I would suggest staying away from plastic if you are going to be shooting the heavy recoilers.
Try horn or bone grips if you do not like wood.
Maple, ebony, and facy walnut all look good on Stainless. Ebony may be as prone to crack as the plastic, though. Walnut and Maple should give you nothing but good service!
You could put the pearl grips on for "show" and put the wood grips on for "go".

If they were factory fake ivory grips I believe that Ruger uses grips made by Letts...not sure, but you might check into it. You might try Eagle grips or look in Brownells for someone who makes resin impregnated grips or true micarta grips. Both are very strong materials. You might also send your grips to Ruger and see if they will replace them, again if they were factory installed.

They were factory installed, they have the Ruger emblem and everything. My uncle has had excellent customer service with Ruger so I might just contact them.
I found Hogue grips too. Micarta would be good, the black is very nice.
