A few ? about TC
I have a contender in 223 that was a 22 hornet
to begin with and was reamed out to 223,it has a 16 barrel.I don't know any thing about these guns,
will this gun being reamed pose any problems?
It dont have any wear marks from opening and closeing as i have seen on others. Should the shell eject from the gun when opened or should you have to remove it by hand? the gun is real tight no slack any were.
I do hand load, but untill my dies come in
will factory rounds be OK?
I know this is a lot of questions, but any info
would help!
Are there any web sites just on contenders i
might find helpfull.one more, who has the best supply of contender parts?
Thanks Reloaderlen

If it was done right... no problems.

Wear marks are normal.

Shells shold NOT exejct, just extract.. pull out a bit. (T/C made a few "ejector" barrels, but they're not common)

Factory ammo is fine, especially in your longer barrel, though I'd stay away from the cheaper steel cased stuff like Wolf and Silver Bear and the like... they might be hard to extrat in a Contender as the steel cases don't spring back as much brass.

What cas said AND i am not sure that the twist rate of a 22 Hornet barrel is but you might find that it like the lighter (50 grains and less) bullets.

The standard twist rate for .22 hornet barrels is 1-14". That's a little slow for a .223. You'll likely want to stick with bullets of 40-45 grains, 50 grains at the most. The usual twist rate for a .223 is 1-12" or 1-9" (I think), with the latter being used to stabilize the long, heavy bullets used by target shooters.
