HOW MANY HANDGUNS HAVE YOU, WHAT KIND OF JOBS HAVE YOU DONE ON THESE
Hi All,

I'm sure you have lots of handguns that you have modified to improve accuracy, look,...

I have one Walther P99 in 9mm with a LPA sight which replace the original sight.

I have a 1911 custom (Caspian, Wilson,...) in 45 ACP nothing to change.

I have one revolver S&W 686 in .357 Mag I have changed the trigger mecanism to light the trigger pull into 3 lbs, and change the front sight into custom black one.

I have one Ruger New Blackwawk single action I have changed the grip with a Hogue Ebony Micarta wich replace the Ruger one.

I have a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 Casull I have done handjob on trigger mecanism to light the trigger pull into 3 lbs.

I have a Ruger SRH in .454 Casull I have done handjob on trigger mecanism to light the trigger pull into 3 lbs.

I have a FA in .454 Casull factory job octagonal barrel, trigger stop and hone action with trigger pull of 3lbs.

I Desert Eagle pistol in .50 AE I have done handjob on trigger mecanism to light the trigger pull into 4 lbs (can do more) and put a Bushnell red dot sight.

I have only two handguns:

Ruger Super Redhawk - 44 Mag - Full SSK Custom - 8" Octgan Bull Barrel, 4 Port MagnaPort, Cylinder Gap Reduced, Action Smoothed, Trigger Lightend, Cylinder Wobble Removed (?), Hogue Grips, Engraved SSK Custom

Ruger Redhawk - 41 Mag - Hamilton Bowen Alpine Model - Barrel Bobbed to 4", Round Butted, Action Smoothed, Trigger Lightend, Trigger Stop Installed, Bowen Sights Installed, All Ruger marks removed, Engraved Bowen Custom

I have one question that is way off topic, if no one answer I'll start a new thread.

I was wondering if anyone has good loads for a cast (Bull-X) 300 grain FP in the 44 Mag? I would prefer loads with H110, but if you have anything let me know.

Thanks alot,

Jim

As you have a custom .44 Mag, you can load a little hotter than other revolvers. H110 or WW296 are good powders for magnum loads in a handgun.
Honardy load manual--> 19 gr of H110 with a 300 gr bullet (XTP) for a velocity 1325 fps.

These following loads are from John Taffin, tested and safe.

For a 310 gr bullet BRP 21.5 gr of WW296 with a velocity of 1470 FPS in a Ruger Super Blackhawk (hunting load)

For a 300 gr bullet cast bullet over 21.5 gr of H110 or WW296 (hunting load)

You can withdraw 1 or 2 gr of these max loads and do the heavy crimp on case's mouth.
That'll become you standard loads.

Hope thi can help you.

Hey Jim

Saw you post where SSK did some work on a RSR for you. I was curious as to what the cost was. I have a SS SBH 10" that I have been considering sending to SSK to have the Barrel cut, tighten cylinder/barrel gap, get rid of play and basically do a tune on it. Would also probebly have a TSOB put on it too.

As for 300 grain cast. I still have a small pile of 305 grain SSK mould cast bullets in 44 cal. I use 21.5 ans 22 grains of W296 in my SBH. Works for me. I imagine H110 would be in the same ballpark.

Ciao

Mike

Mike,

The work on the RSR runs about $800. Yours will be considerbly cheaper (since you won't be putting a custom barrel on).

I had basically what you want done, done to my Ruger Redhawk by Hamilton Bowen (Bowen Classic Custom). I would highly reccommend his work. A link to his web site can be found on the front page of www.sixgunner.com .

Both guns are very nice and shoot WAY better than I can (I only started getting into handguns last year).

Thank you both for the load info. It is greatly appreciated.

Jim

I had Mag na Port work on my Ruger Super Blackhawk; barrel cut down to 5.25 inches, mag na ported, action job, number the cylinders. Also had the Ruger warning removed off the barrel.

I also own a 375 JDJ SSK khrome barrel with full vent rib, 3 rings 2.5x7 Simmons.

Next month my Ruger 454 is going to go of to Mag na Port for some work, porting, action job.

These are the only guns that have had anything "special" done to them.

eldeguello,

I am pretty new to handgunning and this forum, why is wrong to ask what custom work people have had done to their firearms?

eldeguello,

As you know in this forum, everybody uses nikname like you, uses a hotmail box like you,... it is impersonal. The details in the profile are thin. If I knew you real name, your personal address,... and details like these. I can agree with your post. You need to know that one thing very common in US isn't in EU, for instance when you meet someone that you never seen before and you ask him "how many taxes have you paid this year?" in EU only very close friends ask this question. Be cool, it is just a forum nothing else.
