MS HitmanLinebaugh Seminar in Mississippi
John and I are working on a seminar for the Jackson, MS area to occur in either late April or early May.
This will be a long trip for John to make to come down and we can pull it off best with some dedicated interest and support. If you are interested in attending and have any topics you wish John to discuss, please let me know. I will pass this on to John and use the inofrmation for planning purposes.

Rod SmithWill there be an update concerning the penetration of various cast bullets including
some of the new rounds? Or can you tell me if
any new tests have been done lately, as I have
only seen those of 2-3 years ago. I am considering a BFR in 475.
I share Mr. Smith's interest in seeing recently introduced cartridges and bullets added to the Linebaugh penetration study. It would be interesting to see penetration benchmarks using the 458 Lott and a 416 Rigby or Remington. The 460 S&W should be tested of course, and tests using the short barreled version of it at the 500 would be neat to see. The penetration of the 300 grain Partition in 45/70 and 250 grain Partition in 44 magnum would be worth measuring. Sounds like fun. Please keep us posted.

MS HitmanThese seminars are hands-on in a big way and I'm sure as the newer loads are available, they will be tested. Participants are invited to run what they brung, so if anyone wants to test what they have, bring it on.
If there is something you do not have, but want to see tested; that will require some coordination, but is not impossible.
I know for a fact that 72" of wet newsprint did not stop a 400 grain FMJ out of John Wooter's .416 Taylor. I would suspect performance from the Rigby would be equally impressive.

Please tell us more about the seminar, its agenda, how one gets invited, etc. Sounds like fun.

Paul HI won't be able to make it down there, but I have some cast bullets I'd like to see tested, if I could find someone to load and test them. It would be interesting to see how the 357 mag performs as I don't recall it ever being tested at one of the seminars, I have a 160 gr XFN (large meplat) and 200 gr WFN
I'd be curious to see how my 460 gr WFN performs out of a 475 linebaugh, it did pretty good out of the 480 when launched 1100 fps.
A buddy just got a new 500 S&W mold made ~520 gr with a very large meplat.

MS HitmanI should have a date by the end of next week.
The theme of the sminar is "Sixguns - Dissolving the Myth-Discovering the Potential".
The seminar starts with classroom presentation of general sixgun knowledge, models, caliber and accepted potential. This moves into the follwoing areas:

Pressure Data
Safety Factors

We expect to a lof of shooting, penetration tests in wet newsprint and bone. Everyone shoots and tests their favorite loads, big bore rifles compared to handguns, Taylor Knock-Out theory. This is a hands-on shooting seninar with everyone invoved in shooting. Breaks will be taken and questions answered as they arise during the course of the seminar.
The range at Bryam can handle shooting out to 300 yards.
The seminar is 3 days and costs $200 per ticket. Free to spouses and children under 16. We are looking at catfish dinner on Friday night.
There is a Days Inn at Byram that is about one mile from the range we are looking at holding the seminar.

MS HitmanI do knot know. If there has been no new data, I guess no one has been posting it. Last seminar I attended was in '03. I will post penetration results for this one we hold in MS.

MS HitmanUPDATE
Dates for the seminar have been set for May 11, 12, & 13, 2006. I am working on getting a block of rooms at the motel in Byram (about one mile from the range) and will have the meeting room lined up soon as well.
This can only work with a commitment from those who are interested. Tickets for the seminar may be purchased directly from John. Please be sure you indicate this is for the Mississippi seminar. His mailing address is P.O. Box 455, Cody, Wyoming 82414. I do ask that you email me and let me know you are planning to attend that I may keep a headcount for planning purposes.
