50 AE
Would this caliber be adequate for african game (Caffer included) ?
Or should my friend go for a 454 casull ?
I am looking for experiences with this stuff, any help would be gfreatly appreciated;

.454 would be better, but the min. I'd recommend a .475 for cape.

350RM,

Depend on the gun chamber in this caliber.

With a desert eagle 325 gr at 1350 fps
With a FA a 385 gr over 1550 fps

I'd prefer the .50 AE over the .454 Casull.

But both calibers will work even on elehant.

If you want better "penetrating" calibers gor with .475 or .500 linebaugh.

A .45 Colt heavy has been tested on cape buffalo and the penetration was enough to kill it.

But the .475 has a better penatrting rate, i agree with you.

I won a .475 and a .5oo but if I was going after something like cape buffalo Id put one on my hip and shoot it with a 458 or a .416!!!

I own some big bore handguns too, my choice for cape buffalo will be my .450 Ackley mag bolt action rifle. [Big Grin]
