PAHunterS&W 500... 50 cal
Hi Guys:
I was at a local gun show today and and found three different tables selling the new S&W 500.... One table had the 8inch @ $850.00... another @ $775.00 and one table had a 4in @ $950.00.. I would really like the 4in version.. What is a GOOD price for this revolver? Since prices seem to be all over the board.
I offered the guy with the 4in a trade of a Sako Finnbear, excellent condition, 7MM Mag pre 72... L-61R action with a 3X9 Leupold Vari X II on it, but he wasn't into Sako rifles. Bluebook on the rifle alone is around $950.00...and The leupy has to be around $150.00 because it is used....
SOOooooo what is a good price for an 8in... and 4in... I know they kick like hell and are brutal on the hands, but I have other big bore handguns that aren't pussycats either.
Anybody want to trade for a really nice Sako?
Regards... Jim P.

475/480775.00 is a good price on the 8".
I have seen the 4" for 899.00 so 950.00 is average.

jro45I paid 825.00 for mine when they were first made and came out. Mine is an 8"+ and I have a leopole scope on it 2x.
775.00 would be a real good for an 8".

m700Got my 8" .500 last year for $750, and a several month wait.
I've had it for a bit over a year now. Fun at the range, but it's a big chunk of stainless steel and frankly I don't use it much. Sure is a hoot to pull out and bust some rocks with now and again.
In retrospect, I think your Sako rifle is much more useful! Nope, no trade here, my own 7mm mag does just fine.

jro45I find that shooting the 400 and 500 gr bullets don't seem to have as much recoil as the 270 gr bullet going about 1923 FPS. I shot some to day and with the 400 going 1620 FPS I can shoot them with one hand and the 500 going 1400 fps but the 270 gr bullets take two hands. They seem to have a sharper recoil.

bad1972PinzI paid $725 plus tax (new!) for my 8 3/8", but I think that I got a smokin' deal. My dad saw a guy with a table at a gun show in KC, got his card, and I bought it shortly thereafter. He sells them regularly for $750, but I think dad talked him down a bit. I've seen them at Cabela's for $825...
I took my first deer with it a few weeks back with the 275 Barnes X from Corbon. It was like flipping off a switch. The only bones I hit were ribs, and the exit hole was around 1" to maybe 1 1/2".
Next step, getting off of this $31/box of 12 factory ammo habit..
