Taking a handgun to Zimbabwe?
I would like to take a 3" S&W .44mag with me on my next trip to Zimbabwe (obviously overnighting in RSA). Do any of you have FIRSTHAND knowledge of the requirements. I have tried to locate specific rules and descriptions for both countries but have come up short so any links to info would be greatly appreciated. If I needed to make it more "sporting" by adding a scope or red dot I could do that. I would really appreciate any solid info that you can provide.

If you like being cuffed to a bed, go right ahead and take it along. You might even get to meet the african version of Bubba.

I did a more serious post in the other section of the AR forums that makes more sense. The gist is...short barreled double action revolvers (or long in most cases) and ANY auto is considered a defensive handgun and is against the rules in most all african nations. It just don't go over very big with their military honcho's and in most of these countries the military runs the show. if you are found to be breaking such rules you will seriously regret it. It may be a long time before you see another American flag waving.

Like Woodrow said, you can bring a HUNTING HANDGUN, which is usually must have a scope attached and be "made for hunting", whatever that means. Try and bring a 3" BBL handgun into Zimbabwe, and you will see the inside of prison-PERIOD. You also must secure permits prior to going.
