Could you tell...
If someone were to hand you a Beretta 9mm, could you tell whether it was (A) fully loaded or (B) empty (or nearly empty) based solely on it's weight or "heft"?

I've got a 92FS and it's pretty easy to tell if the full (15round) mag is in or not. The balance point changes quite a bit, and 15 cartridges + mag adds a lot of weight.

With a low-cap (vs full-cap) is used, I don't think I could tell if the inserted mag had any ammo in it or not, or how many.

To clarify I'm speaking with 15 round magazine inserted - full or empty.

Thanks - I kinda thought so, but wanted to double check.

Reason I asked is - remember the scene in "Die Hard" where Bruce Willis hands a supposedly loaded Beretta to the head bad guy to test who he is? Gun was actually empty and I figure the bad guy would have known this, unlike as shown in the movie.

What do you think?

Surely you're not suggesting that everything you see on the movie screen be completely accurate! If you want to see reality then save your money and set up a chair on a street corner!! [Wink]

Of core snot: sum of us just enjoy "picking" movies apart on certain other forums for fun and laughs. Die Hard is full of inaccuracies.

Afraid a chair on a street corner where I live would be pretty boring!

I carry one all the time and you can tell the difference if loaded or not easily. Also, you can tell if the chamber has a round in it by looking at the extractor, most M92 series pistols have red paint on the front end that shows when there is a round in the chamber.
As for the accuracies of gun lore in movies...you ever seen a copper jacketed bullet spark when it hit something?

Maybe we should have a "Movies" forum here??? [Smile] ??????
