I own five Burris handgun scopes currently and have owned four others. Of those, three were 4x scopes but all the older type. Those scopes all have generous eye relief IMHO and worked well for me. I still own one which is on a Savage Striker in 22lr I use for IHMSA shooting.

The problem with a fixed 4x pistol scope is that the field of view is small. I don't like anything bigger than a 2x for a fixed pistol scope, if you need more, get a 2-6 or 2.5-7 variable.

I had a lot of problems holding a 4x Leopold on a TC Encore 223 freehand, but off a rest I had no problems.

My friend had a 2x Burris on a SRH 44mag it was a lot easier to use free hand.

I would recommend a 2x or a variable 2x-.... IMHO

The only burris handgun scope I have is a 2-7X. However, the eye relief is aedquate across the entire power range.

Mostly concerned about eye relief. Will be atop a RH in 45 colt. Thoughts... TIA

I've got a few of them on Contender barrels. All on smaller calibers than .45 but see no reason why not although I'd probably go with 2x myself. Plenty of eye relief.

Good scope, I have had mine since it first came out. But it is the devil to hold steady off hand. I, too would go with 2X.

I have a 4 power and a 5 power and find the eye relief excellent. I am not real thrilled with Burris rifle scopes because their eye relief seems to be much more critical than leupold or Bushnell. But I really like their pistol scopes.
