<Peter>AMT
Are these guys still in business? Does anyone know who carries parts for their handguns? I have a 30 carbine of theirs that just broke a firing pin. Would this be a standard 1911 part?
Thanks,
peter.

<stans>AMT is gone, again. They have a history of poor quality control and have once again gone out of business. You may want to try Gun Parts Corporation to see if they have any parts.

<WRYFOX>Saw the ad in Gun list for the auction of AMT assets a couple of weeks ago. Gelena Industries owned them until now. When Galena bought AMT a couple of years ago, they did not buy all existing models. In particular, the 50 AE Automag V did not transfer. Those parts were sold to somebody in CA. I have the info somewhere. Email me if you want to know more. They may have other parts, too.

<WRYFOX>BY the way, they went from Irwindale Arms to AMT to Gelena (using AMT as a brand) within 7 years. Firearms production costs alot. I have no personal nor anecdotal experience of quality problems, although being a Quality Manager of manufacturing facility, I know you simply can't achieve perfection and certain customers can't be satisfied. I think the biggest problem was undercapitalization and balloning competition. Look how many makers of 1911s are around these days. I for one am sorry to see AMT go.
