Bioman's deer
Scott shot a nice doe with his .44 Ruger Hunter this afternoon. I didn't get a picture but he is happy as the devil.
He found a nice 8 point dead on the property plus a dead doe. The 8 point was shot behind the shoulder with a rifle and we don't know where it came from.
We get sick of guys shooting deer and not going to find them. The boobs think if they don't drop on the spot, they must have missed.
Strange that handgun hunters do so much better! clap

Good for ya Scott!

If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Nice going, Scott. As to the slobs (I won't even add "hunters" to that) who leave game in the field, I have no use for them. In my gun room, I have a gorgeous 10-point whitetail rack that I picked up in our pasture nearly 30 years ago.

It was shot far back through the ribs -- probably catching the liver -- but the person never bothered to follow up the shot. We'd have gladly granted permission for him to do so.

When I found the skeletal remains, it had been there about a month. The antlers had already been chewed on a bit, but the ribcage was intact enough to tell me what had happened.

Prior to ne finding the buck, one of the neighbors lamented about how he shot at and missed a beautiful buck. He said he "shot at him but he ran off."

When I found the dead buck, I knew exactly who the guilty party was. Back then, deer were somewhat rare in the area, and there was only one decent buck around.

I don't know if he was too lazy to look or not intelligent enough to realize that deer don't always drop on the spot. I was a teenager then and had too much respect to say anything to an adult, but I've always despised that individual for wasting that gorgeous buck.

I know there are times when an animal simply can't be recovered. But there is no excuse for not giving an all-out effort looking.

The man was ignorant. Many people start out hunting and do not know that an animal doesn't allways far when mortaly wounde and may run. I could not despise someone for there ignorance. I would want to help educate them. Ignorance is not being exposed to the knowledge that one is ignorant of. I can see despising ignornace but not the idvidual that is ignorant, after all we are all ignorant of a lot of things in this world

Well, maybe I stated it too strongly. I probably should have said I despise the fact that he put absolutely no effort into recovering that deer.

Still, there is no excuse.

Thanks guys. Yes I was pleased with the deer and my shot. I also learned my lesson on hunting horns. Next year I am going to put meat in the freezer first then worry about finding a deer with a nice rack. I pulled the skin off last night and then my wife and went out for a nice dinner and a swim meet to watch our exchange student swim. I am about to start the work of butchering it. I will take a picture this morning. I am going to go over to my parent this afternoon and mom is going to walk me through the process of canning some of the meat. Thanks again guys and a special thanks to Jim for putting up with my company and use of his machine. Cheers Scott

Scott, is that your first handgun kill? If it is, a big CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the madness!

BTW, I shot his Ruger and it's a tack-driver!

It is not his first revolver deer. He shot a nice buck last year after Marko and I converted him. He used a borrowed gun last year.
His Hunter will do 1/2" to 1" at 50 yd's. It WILL drive tacks.
Scott is a bow hunter and has increased his range with a revolver.
Whenever he mentions "rifle", I look at him funny! rotflmo

That's right, he did take a deer last year with a handgun. This is the first time he got blood on that Ruger of his. It's a great revolver and he shoots really well! thumb

I just got in. The deer canning turned out well. We made 6 quarts of meat. I used the meat from the shoulders. I tried 4 spice mixtures for this test. I have never canned meat before so I hope it tastes good. I am not sure how to post pictures so someone will have to walk me through the steps. Marko I also ran an 5k today and got 2nd place for my age group. Some old Marine beat me! Cheers all Bioman63

There were a lot of deer wounded and left to die due to piss poor shot placement. It makes me sick to find a nice Buck or Doe that was left to rot because the shooter cant track an animal.

Thanks Chris. A handgun kill is still new to me and yes it a great feeling when you see the deer go straight down. I made goulash last night for dinner with some of this deer and it was big hit with my family. Cheers Scott
