Kamo GariSuggestions, please
Am headed back to S. FL to whack a meat hog after some fishing in about ten days. Can anyone recommend a factory .44 mag load that's a good choice for letting the air out of a hog, please? As dogs and a buggy will be employed, it's likely going to be a close shot (my lst one I brained at about 20 feet with my '94 in .30-30.
I'll be toting a 8" or 9" Ruger SBH (I forget which), but if the barrel length effects the answer, I'll break out a tape.
TIA for any help.

Both good choices and I would add the 320 grain WFN load from Double Tap (www.doubletapammo.com) -- I have used it with great success.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to sort out your ammo. For such close in shooting, will you even bother to do a test fire?

I've shot my SBH plenty, and won't shoot it unless my target is less than 100 feet away, but as all I've shot through it is jacketed stuff, was looking for a suggestion. My buddy will have a rifle along on the buggy which I will have easy access to, should we have a situation where it gets the nod. Since Spirit Air will not allow the two of us to use one gun case for two guns, I am letting my buddy borrow mine and I will travel with the handgun. Thanks for your most helpful post, though. You're a real credit to AR.
To the other gents, a real thank you. I do appreciate it.

you may have bigger problems than ammo
Hope it all works out just fine, and good luck. BTW, contrary to what some seem to think, hogs ain't bulletproof.

Tell me about it. Won't know until the 16th (flt. is scheduled for the 20th). We'll either figure it out with the strike stuff or reschedule. No biggie. The fish, hogs and my buddies will still be there, whenever it is we end up going.

The few hogs I've killed so far did not seem to care much about my caliber/bullet choices, and somehow, given the kind of shot I'm willing to take--read as a close one--this one won't either, but do want to use the right tool for the job.
Thanks for t'input.

You're welcome. But you didn't reveal WHY you waited until 10 days before your pig hunt to start asking for suitable ammo recommendations.

Of the 3 suggestions, Federal, Hornady and Speer, which did you choose?

Though it matters not a whit more to you than the length of my dick, since you asked, I was invited to attend the trip two days before I posted here. That OK with you?
As far as my ammo choice, I got three different flavors and will see which one my SBH likes best later today, but thanks for pretending you give a shit or were genuinely trying to be helpful to a fellow member.

You couldn't find a way to say it without the sarcasm and vulgarity?

Since you decided to not only add absolutely nothing helpful--in addition to taking a condescending, chiding tone with me from jump-- I deliberately *chose* to address you in the fashion I did, to emphasize the fact that I think you're a dick. That clears up any confusion for you, I hope.
Now why don't you go ahead and put me on ignore. That way, you won't have to go through any more teeth gnashing/soiling of your Depends regarding any perfectly civil and simple questions/requests for suggestions I may ask on this or any other AR forum in the future.
