BFR,

Your comment about working up to accurate loads paralleled what I found when working up loads in my 480 SRH. Increasing charges of powder would tighten groups until the "sweet spot" was reached, then hotter loads would open up groups. I tried over 1/2 dozen cast bullets, and every single one of them could put 5 shots into 1" at 50 yds. Best loads were near max.

I wanted to do a thorough lube test, but only tested stick alox, RCBS green, LBT blue and 50/50 beeswax/lythium-moly. LBT blue and 50/50 beeswax/lythium-moly were both equal in accuracy, alox and RCBS really opened up groups, with RCBS green the worst. I also found that Lee liquid alox was accurate with my 310 gr plinker load, but I never tried it with max loads.
