The Strength of Ruger Rings

WhitworthThe Strength of Ruger Rings
A few weeks ago while hunting pigs in Florida (or rather trying to hunt pigs....

), I had a mishap and my SRH took a tumble out ofmy ladder stand, plunging 12 feet to the ground after bouncing off of the base. Nothing was broken, but there were a few new minor scratches. Wasn't sure if I need to resight or not, so I didn't think about it. Upon my return from Florida, I took my .475 out to the range, set up a target at 50 yards, and shot it off of sandbags. The first shot was a bullseye, the remaining four were in the ten ring. I loaded it one more time to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and this was the result:
I'm not a consistent shooter of groups, but will usually make my first shot absolutely count. I HIGHLY recommend Ruger rings where you have the choice to use them.

Redhawk1I have to agree, they held well on my 454 Casull.
If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

Some years back, Talley made ruger style mount blocks for the more common rifles like ABolts, remingtion, W'bys etc. Brownell carried them. I changed almost all my bolt guns to use the ruger rings. Talley no longer produces them nor responds to reqst for them.
So, while lil' pricey, I've good experiences w/Warne QD on my revolvers ~ however, if it has the ruger integral mount, I use the ruger rings.
Redfield/leupolds may work out ok on revolvers but I've not tried them after experiencing several failures on rifles (thats what drove me to seek out the Ruger system).
