I am beginning to like this Encore

Got a little muley buck with my Encore. I know some folks would think he is too small but with him being the first ever animal with my Encore I am quite happy. Hopefully I will see what this load will do on elk in about a week.

Cartridge: .30/06
Load: 150 Nosler BT, 50 gr of RL-15

Here is what he looked like about a week later.

Looks tasty.

What kind of velocity are you getting, 2350ish?
The lower velocity should help the bullet to hold together.
I've killed a pile of Elk with the Rem 30cal 165 Corelokt loaded to 2700fps. One year I thought I'd try the 180 Corelokt loaded to 2850fps and it took several good shots to keep the Elk down.

I don't know what velocity I am getting. That same load in a rifle would be doing about 2800. Hopefully I am in the range of 2500 with the 15"barrel.
