jens poulsenI think I was lucky..!!
At the shootingrange here yesterday, speaking with all kinds of good folks, we got into a discussion about Elmer keith and his .44 special loads...Elmer Keith is also known here in denmark..
One of the old guys had a Colt New Frontier with 7.5" barrel in a unfired condition. He bought two guns of the frontier Model back in the sixties, when he had a wholesale company, importing exclusively colt, savage and remington in the gun department. I had to talk to him further, so after awhile I caught him at the parkinglot and asked him if he could consider selling the unfired Colt?. Sure!!.
He wanted approx $2k for it..and maybe the price was a little steep....but all in all..finding one overhere, and in my favorit caliber was like finding a needle in a haystack...so I agreed.
Here is my ?. Would it be safe to fire 250grain bullet(keithstyle) backed up by 16-17 grain of 2400, in that New Frontier??. I know I have to "workup slowly", but I thought i might awell ask!!. I am not a handgun hunter....yet..hahaha!!

kenoneillYes, with the qualifier that you should start at about 14-15 grains and work up, that load should be fine.

475Guy1$2K for a 2nd generation unfired Colt is a good deal. What caliber is it? I'm assuming at least 45 Colt or maybe 44 Spl. Remember that Colt's don't tolerate "hot" loads well at all. You should never all the way up to "red line" for your loads, just work up to about a grain or two under and the Colt will last long enough to be an "heirloom" for your kid(s).

I haven`t got it yet! I will post a picture of the piece, but I need to pay the man first, or else he won`t let of the revolver...hahaha very wise man...

I will hopefully get to pay him here in the beginning of oct...I am very excited...dream of it every day

Who can make the 101% copy of the keith bullet 429-421 Hollowpoint??. I see that there are many "lookalikes", but there´s a compromise somewhere in their profile.

Tom Ballard perhaps??.
