GLCFavorite 45 LC powder?
I've been using 2400 for full power 250/300 grain Hornady XTP 45 Colt loads. Results are good but could be better.
What's your favorite powder for this application?

I like Win 231 for light target loads, ex.. 7.5 grains under a Nevada Bullet Co. 250grn RNFP and Win 296 for the big thumpers with the Hornady XTP's.

Need Just 1 More GunMy hunting loads use AA #9, and I have done some testing with Lil Gun.
Goofing off loads (250 gr SWC or RNFP) have used WW231, Universal Clays, and Bullseye.
I have used WW296 and also 2400 in the past to work up hunting loads, but it seemed like 2400 didn't burn all that cleanly.

HcliffH110 and 296. I haven't had the best of luck with 2400 either. It was inconsistant. I don't know if it was the primer I was using never palyed with that. Lil Gun has seemed to work fine so far. Still playing with it.
Have Fun

GLCThanks for the info guys.
I think I'll give H110 a try, looks pretty popular. I really like Hodgdon rifle powders so I'll give their pistol powders a try.

<XTARHEEL>I've become a recent convert to "lil gun. Great clean burning powder with the heavier bullets. Some good loads listed for Ruger and T/C on their web site.

onefunzr2H110 and WW296 are the very same powder. Made by Primex as stated by Layne Simpson in Shooting Times. My choice with 300 grain XTP's cause it burns clean.

Lar45I've been shooting alot of WC820 lately and really like it. It's only $8 a lb and takes about 1-2gn lees powder than 296 for similar velocities. It seems to burn clean and consistent with SDs as low as 12. I used some in my 454 yesterday to shoot an honest 1.4" group at 50yds. I've shot some in my 44mag with good results also, but haven't gotten around to the 45colt yet, but I'm sure it will be about the same.
