My New 1911 (Sort-A)
I posted a picture of my Springfield 45 ACP that rides with me or in the truck every day a while back when I tested the Buffalo Bore 255 grain hard cast

The old warhorse shows the use and neglect as this photo illustrates

I decided to drop it off with JRH Advanced Gunsmithing to be fitted with a new Kart barrel and adjustable rear Novak sight as well as a general face lift including checkering the front strap

Here are a couple of pictures of it that I received via e-mail today

I had them set it up to shoot 45 ACP, +P and 45 Super with an 18.5 pound recoil spring

Wow, huge improvment. Hopefully it will shoot as good as it looks.

Looks a whole lot better.

How did you like the 255gr BB load?
Did you change the recoil spring?
I have used their 230gr +P Flat Point for field use.

The 255 grain load is a very potent load exiting 9 one gallon jugs of water. I got about 960 FPS with that load.

I load a 250gr swc in my Ruger P90 at 875 very accurate loads I find say I could go faster but. I couldn't bring myself to do so.

The couple of 925fps I tried seem too hot maybe not so.

But the 875s should go throuth 7 0r 8 jugs you think.

The Ruger P series are supposed to be exceptionally strong. I have read of guys just using a heavy spring to run 45 Super in the P90.

I remember when the P85 9mm first came out, one of the tests that Ruger did on it was to thread the end of the barrel, screw in a bolt and shoot a proof load in it. The gun was unharmed and shot fine with a new barrel.
