Last deer for the season

bfrshooterLast deer for the season
The lady down the road wanted more meat so I went out for a few hours yesterday with my .475 BFR. Deer movement has been slow with the moon. I sat under a tree and only seen a button buck at 40 yd's. The wind was blowing like crazy in my face and it was cold so I had put my mask on. I tried to get a sight picture on the deer and my glasses kept fogging up. They finally cleared enough and I popped the deer at the back of it's shoulder. He ran into the ground in 25 yd's.
There was blood everywhere, the .475 is just a super hunting caliber.
My hunting stories are short because I only had one day, about 6 hours, where I could not get a shot. My total time hunting for the 5 deer I shot is only 4-1/2 hours.
Marko, Scott and I have shot 8 deer with 8 shots, bows and revolvers.
Now if I could only get Marko behind a bow!

Redhawk1Way to go BFRshooter, at least you were not out there pulling a 38 special stunt.

If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

MS HitmanI don't know. Jim may have to get a matching pair just to prove he's serious about this stuff.

bioman63Great job Jim. I got home from the cabin at 3. I had no luck. There was very little deer movement at all but it was nice to with about 2 inches of snow to hunt in. As soon as I got home a went to my tree with the bow. I told my self the first deer with in 25 yds was going down. At 4 a nice doe made a fatal mistake. Cheers Scott

WhitworthCongrats, Scott!! Are you going to be around tomorrow? I'm coming out.

Chris OCongradulations to Marko, Scott & bfrshooter on lots of fresh tasty meat !

bfrshooterI forgot to count one of Marko's deer!

The actual count for the 3 of us is 10 deer with 10 shots now since Scott shot another one.
A friend stopped to get a liver this morning and one of his friends just returned from a bunch of days hunting in PA. They only seen one deer at about 350 yd's. Strange how poor it is in some areas of PA. After 5 years driving back and forth to the club I belong to, I think I might have seen 2 deer.
Here where I live you have to drive very carefully because of the amount of deer.
I have to admit that it is easy hunting here. They just have to be thinned out every year but are all back the next season.
I cheat by shooting a lot of young deer because the older does will have twins or triplets so the population stays pretty high.

There are farms all over PA that the farmer will shoot every deer he sees all year so he doesn't lose a bale of hay. Then when hunting season comes they get angry because they can't find any.
