This combination sounds really interesting to me, and has been on my top three list of contenders for my next gun purchase.

Has anyone used them for hunting of any type, or used them on the range? I hear the muzzle blast is massive, but recoil is light.

I'm curious if the bore diameter .308 like a real .30 caliber? Someone said they used .312 bullets from a .32-20, but I would like to see how the speer 'plinker' bullet does in a shorter handgun barrel of the blackhawk. And I know somebody has played with the .22 cal sabot loads too.

That is a under statment if I have ever heard one . Factory ammo will scare you how much muzzel flast it produces !

I load both .308 bullets (thats what it should use) and .312 bullets for varmit loads . The .312 85 or 100 gr XTP for the 32 hr mag expands quite nicely on chucks.
The Plinker should be great.
I load 115 gr hard cast bullets for plinking.
Some where I even have 125 gr 30-30 bullet loading data for the Black Hawlk ( I found this bullet sometimes tumbles and probely will not expand)

My first experience when it was introduced ,was at a pistol range where everyone was shooting from 22 to 44mag.Suddenly there was an incredible sound which went right through our ear protection and right through our brains.Every one immediately put down their gun and asked 'what was that!!!' A 30 Carbine Ruger. Not for me ,thanks .

Awesome! I have been around a few AMT Automags in .30 carbine and shot them several times. The flash is comparable to a +p .357 at night. I have shot almost every round in a handgun and this one produces the most flash and a distinctive, ka boom. Recoil is that of a .38 and the accuracy is a real plus. I think I was shooting 110 grain soft points, a good small game round.

I bought one several years back due to the fact I had pleanty of brass and bullets already on hand. It is true that using factory ammo, it puts up quite a show, however, I loaded up some 110gr Speer JHP's in it using Accurate powder and it shot really well and not much muzzle flash at all.

As for hunting, well I had to give it a whirl, just to see. So I took it on two hog trips and my daughter hauled it on several more. We took two or three hogs up to 150# with it using the Seirra 110gr SP's. It penetrated fair but not what I really liked. The hogs were taken at close range, under 25 yds.

After both of us using it we decided that the .357 had much more of a comfort factor on the hogs than the Carbine. Not that it didn't know the ones we got down, as it did. It's just you never know when the next one out might be 400# and it might be the one you have to stop, verses the one you would have liked to have stopped.

I'm surprised you can use .312" bullets. I couldn't get .308" bullets to chamber when I got mine, as the throats were VERY undersized. I had to open them up before I was able to use anything but 30 carbine round nose ball. (No, I do not work on 30 carbine cylinders)
My gun was VERY accurate. Off a solid rest with iron sights, it would keep all six rounds on a paper plate at 200 yards. (most of the time )

I got rid of mine when I got my first .32 Mag single six. They are not similar guns and I wish I'd kept it now. I kick around .30 wildcat ideas myself.
