<M.R.CLEAN>Freedom Arms 500 JRH Conversion
The 500 JRH (.50 diameter) is a new 50 caliber revolver cartridge designed for use in the Freedom Arms Model 83 Revolver. It is currently being offered by gunsmith Jack Huntington. The 500 JRH case is 1.4" in length with a base diameter of .526 and will launch 400-510gr .50 caliber bullets. Freedom Arms model 83 frames can not chamber the 500 Linebaugh (.510 diameter) round due to its dimensions. Up until now, the only choice for a fifty caliber round in the Freedom Arms platform was the 50ae (.50 diameter) which had its limitations of not being able to use 440-510gr bullets and the bullet "jumping" issue. The 500 JRH was designed so that the Freedom Arms revolver could utilize a 50 caliber round whose performance could duplicate and possibly exceed the 500 Linebaugh using 400-510gr bullets. The bottom line is that the 500 JRH is based on a modern case design, duplicates the performance of the 500 Linebaugh, safely operate at higher pressures than the 500 Linebaugh and it will work on the Freedom Arms platform.

<HHI 812>I posted at several sites about the rimmed .50 in the FA about a year ago, and got laughed at by a mess of folks. But I guess some folks just will not accept new ideas? Glad Jack isn't afraid to do what most say cannot be done.
