...Can I shoot .44spl in my Taurus M44?

I never thought about it before I saw the .44spl snakeload thread in the Reloading Forum. Just thought the .44spl would make a good target round for the range.

No problem, just like 38 special in a 357 magnum. Just don't let any soot build up in the chamber forward of the mouth of the special case, it can make extraction of the magnum case difficult. Also, don't try to load 44 special brass up to 44 magnum pressures, it is not as thick or strong, and will not handle it.

Don't worry, I wouldn't load anything hot in the M44 anyway I'll stick with my SRH for hunting loads.

You're welcome! I just added the warning about the brass "just in case". Main thing is cleaning the chambers well after shooting specials.

I bet you like your SRH. I got my RH before the Super came out, and it shoots so good I can't justify "trading up"!

Now, if I really needed more than a 44....

I am a fanatic about cleaning and PM. My Wife threatened physical violence last week when I told her that maybe I should change the oil, filter, rotate & balance, clean air filter, adjust tire pressure, and clean the engines on our vehicles every month instead of every other month. They get washed, waxed, and a general hose, tire pressure, fluid, and light check every Saturday.

I get this way about everything, I'm probably the only person that cleans out the pan underneath and from behind the 'fridge every six months
